West Indies vs Ireland ODI series to resume on Thursday The second ODI, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will be played on Thursday after a total of five positive cases and injuries in the Ireland camp left them depleted.

The second ODI, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will be played on Thursday after a total of five positive cases and injuries in the Ireland camp left them depleted and led to the contest being called off.

The third and final match moves from Friday to Sunday, with West Indies leading the series 1-0 after their 24-run victory in the first ODI on Saturday.

The one-off Twenty20 international scheduled for Sunday has been cancelled to avoid disruption to West Indies' travel plans and subsequent fixtures, the statement added.

West Indies will host England in a five-match T20 series from Jan. 22-30 before their white-ball tour of India in February.


The second match will be played on January 13, Thursday, while the final game will be played on January 16, Sunday at Sabina Park. The necessity to make changes arose after the emergence of five positive cases coupled with injuries in the Irish camp.

“The rescheduling occurred following five COVID-19 positive cases, as well as injuries in the Ireland camp leaving the squad depleted ahead of the 2nd CG Insurance ODI which was originally was scheduled for Tuesday, 11 January.“

“As a consequence, the one-off CG Insurance T20 International has been cancelled to allow for this revised schedule and to avoid impact on the teams’ travel plans and subsequent fixtures,” the statement from CWI read.

The Windies side leads the series 1-0 after a close encounter in the first ODI held last Saturday. Shamarh Brooks won the man of the match award for his 89-ball 93 that included nine fours and three maximums.

Thursday 13 January: 2nd CG Insurance ODI (9:30 am local time, 2:30 pm in Ireland)

Sunday 16 January: 3rd CG Insurance ODI (9:30 am local time, 2:30 pm in Ireland)
